We can’t help but be drawn to films and television offerings that capture our attention from the beginning, which is both a blessing and a curse for those who make them. Keeping our attention and investment in the story is a challenge once they have captivated us. This is why many filmmakers and television producers work hard to create cliffhangers and plot twists that leave the audience wanting more. They also use techniques such as surprise endings and flashbacks to keep the story engaging. Paradise’s creators have succeeded so far. Its not surprising given that the same creator and producer, Dan Fogelman, who brought viewers the ultra-powerful family drama “This Is Us,” is also behind “Paradise.”
The title “Paradise” implies beauty, liberation, and utopia. As the series unfolds, viewers gain a contextual understanding.
Xavier’s Journey Through Deception, Power, and Truth

In its first season, “Paradise” follows Xavier, the lead agent on the president’s security detail. After saving the president’s life, Xavier earns the president’s trust. However, their relationship has layers. When Xavier discovers the president’s body, everything changes, and viewers go on a journey of discovery alongside him.
The first few episodes of the series unfold in a unique, non-linear storytelling approach. It’s like receiving puzzle pieces and the objective is for the viewer to piece them together. One of the most significant revelations over the first few episodes is details into the origin of Paradise, a synthetic world. Viewers are given hints that it was perhaps an apocalyptic event that led to the creation of this society. However, there is much more to this story than what we are initially given.
Amidst the chaos following the president’s death, significant questions arise, and Xavier is in the center of the vortex. What is the true purpose of Paradise and the intentions of its creators? What is Xavier’s role in all this, and what continues to drive him?
Dive into the Political Intrigue

Paradise is a gripping political drama with eight episodes in total. The third episode has already been released; the fourth will be available on February 4th. From the first three episodes, it’s evident that the series is packed with suspense and captivating developments. Sterling K. Brown delivers an exceptional performance, as always. He fully embodies his characters, as seen in his previous works such as “This is Us,” “Marshall,” “Waves,” “Atlas,” and “American Fiction, for which he earned an Oscar nomination for a supporting role. His talent for dramatic acting is top-notch. As Variety notes,
“Brown has been putting in the work to develop that range since he was fresh out of NYU and broke as he pursued his acting career.”
While the script itself drives the story forward, Brown’s acting adds an extra layer of depth. Those who haven’t watched Paradise can now watch it streaming on Hulu.
